Malwarebytes Software Download

Last reviewed 2026-08-28

Security software is one of the most impersonated categories on the web, because a fake security installer gets administrator rights without argument. This page is a short verification routine you can apply to any Windows download, not only this one.

Verify before you run

  1. Download only from the vendor's own domain, typed into the address bar.
  2. Check Properties → Digital Signatures for a valid publisher signature.
  3. Confirm the file is a single .exe and not a "download assistant".
  4. Scan the file with the security tool already on the PC.
  5. Keep the installer until the first successful scan, then delete it.

Where fake downloads come from

  • Search ads on brand keywords pointing at lookalike domains
  • Aggregator portals that wrap real installers in their own bundler
  • Cracked or "pre-activated" builds distributed on forums and file hosts
  • Pop-ups claiming the PC is already infected and offering an immediate fix

If you already ran a suspicious installer

Disconnect from the network, run a threat scan with rootkit scanning enabled, then follow the virus removal process. Change passwords from a different device once the PC is clean.

Frequently asked questions

Do you host the Malwarebytes installer?

No. This is an independent information site; we link to the vendor and explain how to verify what you download.

How can I tell a fake installer from the real one?

The digital signature is the reliable test. A valid signature naming Malwarebytes Inc. is hard to fake; a missing or broken one is disqualifying.
