How to Remove Potentially Unwanted Programs
A PUP is not necessarily malware. It is software that behaves in ways most users would not choose: bundled installs, aggressive advertising, misleading system warnings, hard-to-cancel subscriptions.

- "PC cleaners" and registry optimizers reporting hundreds of urgent errors
- Driver updaters that charge for what Windows Update already does
- Toolbars and shopping assistants
- Bundled VPN or coupon utilities you did not choose
Deciding what to remove
Ask two questions: did I install this deliberately, and does it do something Windows cannot? If the answer to either is no, remove it. Genuine tools you chose can be restored from quarantine, so removal is low risk.
Removal steps
- Uninstall through Settings → Apps first.
- Run AdwCleaner to clear leftover services, tasks and registry keys.
- Run a threat scan with PUP detection enabled.
- Cancel any subscription the program created, separately from uninstalling it.
